German companies explore market opportunities in the public water supply and wastewater treatment sector
The Competence Centre Climate and Environment recently hosted a German business delegation of eight companies in Johannesburg and Cape Town with the topic public water supply and wastewater treatment in South Africa. The objective of this 5-day event was to transfer knowledge and technology on current water management practices and to explore business opportunities for the participating German companies.
As part of this delegation, the SAGCC held a conference with the topic “Technological Solutions for Resilience in Water and Sanitation” on 28. March 2023 in Sandton, Johannesburg. Over 80 attendees represented the German delegates, our project implementation partners, local, provincial and national government, the private water and sanitation sector, engineering companies and other stakeholders.
During this event, German companies presented their technological solutions (download presentations below). Furthermore, South African experts in the field engaged with each other during two podium discussions on the role of innovative technologies and the current municipal procurement framework in providing water and sanitation services in South Africa.
The business delegation was organised in cooperation with the German Water Partnership e.V. (GWP) and in collaboration locally with the Southern African Local Government Association (SALGA), the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA), the Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) and the Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA).
