The Competence Centre: Sourcing aims at enabling Southern African companies to supply into the global value chain of German & European companies. The Competence Centre is based in Johannesburg; it is headed by a skilled specialist placed by CIM (Centre for International Migration and Development) within the Business Scouts for Development programme.

By focusing on the region of southern Africa the main tasks of the Competence Centre Sourcing include:

  • Analysis and provision of market information
  • Network and cooperation platform
  • Support in finding European business partners and associations
  • Consulting services on market entry, trade fairs, supply chains, financing and promotion opportunities,
  • Organisation of events in the fields of sourcing, export marketing, trade fair workshops, export competitiveness workshops

Business Scouts for Development work as development policy experts in around 40 countries across the globe. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), they advise German, European and local companies on development policy matters and promote responsible business engagement through cooperation projects.
