South Africa, on the other hand, is faced with high unemployment. In addition, there is a high youth unemployment rate as well.
Thanks to the support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and the ‘Skills Experts’ programme, the SA-German Chamber offers skilled graduates the opportunity to start a life in Germany.
Which professions are available??
The project is open to all sectors, but the focus is on chefs and hotel managers. The target group is people who fulfil the following criteria:
- Qualification in the hospitality industry
- Proficiency in the German language at a minimum of level B1 (required for job placement)

What do you need to qualify?
- Qualification as a chef or hotel manager
- 2 years’ practical experience
- German on level B1 (minimum A1)
- Perseverance, thick skin
- Good attitude and good sense of humour
Preparation of candidates
Following an internal selection process by the AHK Southern Africa team, candidates are entered into the official talent pool database and receive the following support:
- Upgrading of German language skills (up to B1)
- Intercultural training
- Workshops on German life and work culture
- Matching with potential employers
- When an employment contract is signed, we accompany the visa process.
- Support with the integration of candidates after their arrival in Germany
