Invitation to corporate employers to submit an expression of interest in PHASE II of the Trusted Employer Scheme of the Department of Home Affairs

South Africa's Department of Home Affairs launched Phase II of the digitalised Trusted Employer Scheme (TES) on July 20, 2026. Expressions of interest are open until September 4, 2026. The scheme fast-tracks critical-skills work visas for vetted corporate employers, expanding access through a new digital portal and dedicated qualifying pathways. 

 

Key Features and Expansion

  • New Pathways: Includes strategic infrastructure projects, regional or global headquarters based in South Africa, and financial sector entities operating as Synthetic Financial Centres.
  • Digital Integration: Utilises a digitalised application and adjudication framework, integrated into modern travel and visa platforms.
  • Scoring Criteria: Applicants must achieve a minimum merit score of 80 out of 100 points based on investment size, local employment ratios, and skills transfer. 

 

Application Timeline

  • Opening Date: July 20, 2026
  • Closing Date: September 4, 2026
  • Adjudication Window: Outcomes are issued within 30 working days following the close of submissions via an interdepartmental committee.
