Consultancy Vouchers for Africa (Beratungsgutscheine Afrika)

The Consultancy Vouchers for Africa are a funding initiative aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in preparing and implementing economic projects in African target markets.

Facilitated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), this programme provides SMEs with access to professional consulting services that are tailored to their specific business needs in Africa. The goal is to help companies plan, structure, and successfully execute their investment or economic projects on the continent.

Funding Support

Under this programme, eligible SMEs can receive funding for up to 85% of the costs for consulting services. To qualify, companies must have an annual turnover of €100 million or less. The funding specifically supports external consulting services provided by consulting firms and organisations that are officially listed in the Wirtschaftsnetzwerk Afrika database. Our Chamber, the Southern African – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is included in this database and is recognised as a qualified consulting provider.

The consultancy vouchers are designed to make it easier for SMEs to access professional advice and implement projects in African markets with confidence. They provide financial support for advisory services, enabling businesses to focus on project execution while leveraging the expertise of experienced consulting providers.

Scope of Services Covered

The Consultancy Vouchers can be used for a wide range of consulting services related to economic or investment projects in Africa, including:

  1. Country- and sector-specific advice: Guidance on the market, sector, and country conditions relevant to the company’s planned project, including potential risks and opportunities.
  2. Legal advisory services: Support on legal issues related to the project or investment, such as regulatory requirements, compliance, and contractual matters.
  3. Business planning and feasibility assessment: Examination of the marketability and practicality of an organizational, financial, and, where applicable, product-related implementation concept. This includes business case development and assessment of critical business aspects to ensure project viability.
  4. Financing advice: Guidance on financing options, investment structuring, and strategies for securing capital to implement the project successfully.

These services are intended to help SMEs navigate the complexities of operating in African markets, from initial project planning to practical implementation, providing structured support at every stage.
