German Business Delegation Explores Mining Opportunities in Angola

The programme commenced in Luanda with an internal delegation briefing, which set the scene for a week of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Following the briefing, the delegation visited the Instituto Geológico de Angola (IGEO) for a detailed overview of Angola’s geological landscape and its vast mineral potential and emerging opportunities in the region. The delegation was hosted by H.E. Dr Stefan Traumann, Ambassador of the German Embassy in Luanda, for a briefing on the business environment and trade relations between Germany and Angola. This was followed by a networking reception, providing an opportunity to engage with local stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.

The German-Angolan Mining Event served as the key highlight of the week. With about 60 participants in attendance, the event created a vibrant space for meaningful dialogue, exploring collaboration, and showcasing Angola’s growing potential as a mining investment destination. The mining event featured addresses from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas (MIREMPET) and National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM), followed by company pitches and B2B meetings.

The delegation also had a site visit to Saurimo Diamond Development Hub and a mine visit to Luele Diamond Mine, which offered German companies the opportunity to witness the impressive operations and showcase their technologies to the Angolan stakeholders.
