Chemical Operations Programme

August marked four months of the programme activities, and the AHK conducted site visits to the host firms in KwaZulu-Natal. The findings of the visit are that the programme is progressing well under the leadership of hands-on mentors and senior business partners. There is more commitment to potential new programmes beyond this pilot initiative. Trainees also expressed their enthusiasm for continuing to perform to the best of their abilities throughout the year.

AdA International Train-the-trainer course, basic version

The Competence Centre concluded the August training activity with delegates from SAB, Tshwane North TVET College, FESTO and SAGCC. There is a continued effort to improve the facilitation of this course, especially in line with the QCTO Occupational qualifications in South Africa. This approach makes the German course much more applicable to the activities of in-company trainers and mentors.

Department of Basic Education: Ministerial Partnership Luncheon

Hosted at the Eureka Estate in the Western Cape, the event was attended by various partners, including the SAGCC. Attendees shared diverse views on ways we can all support teaching and learning at the foundational level of schooling, ensuring that children read with meaning and calculate with excitement.

CSR: Public Schools

As part of our ongoing commitment to uplift schools in disadvantaged areas, we recently delivered essential resources to Banabakae Primary School and Resomaretse Special School, located in the rural outskirts of Zeerust, North West. The contributions included school desks and chairs, whiteboards for every classroom, notice boards, wheelchairs for learners with disabilities, school uniforms, and several additional items to support daily learning needs. Thanks to the invaluable support of Mercedes-Benz South Africa, SAGCC Education, Training, and CSR CC continues to create environments where young learners can feel confident, comfortable, and inspired in their educational journey.

CSR: Project for trainees in the dual vocational training programme

As part of the German module in the CATS Programme, trainees are encouraged to plan and execute a meaningful project. On 27 August, the CATS trainees hosted a handover ceremony at the Grace International Children’s Home in Kempton Park, an orphanage that cares for 17 children. Donations included groceries, toiletries, and blankets, providing essential support and comfort to the home.
