Powering Africa’s Growth with Nuclear Energy

The Nuclear Forum to be hosted at the Africa Energy Indaba 2026 is a premier platform dedicated to exploring the transformative role of nuclear energy in addressing Africa’s energy challenges. As the continent seeks sustainable, reliable, and scalable energy solutions, the Nuclear Forum brings together global experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss how nuclear technology can drive Africa’s energy transition.

Nuclear energy has proven to be a game-changer in providing consistent baseload power while contributing to decarbonization and energy security. The Forum will delve into the latest advancements in nuclear technology, including small modular reactors (SMRs) that are well-suited to Africa’s diverse energy needs, enhanced safety measures, and innovative financing models.

With South Africa’s Koeberg Nuclear Power Station as a successful example of nuclear energy’s critical role in powering economic growth and reducing carbon emissions, the Nuclear Forum will highlight its impact and showcase how similar projects can be implemented across the continent. The Forum will also address key enablers for nuclear adoption, such as regulatory frameworks, capacity-building initiatives, and public-private partnerships.
