German law strictly prohibits charging applicants any fees for placement or advisory services. All costs for ethical recruitment must be covered by the employer or its agency.
To obtain a German Employment Visa in Germany as a skilled worker (including apprentices) from South Africa, you need to meet specific requirements. Germany has streamlined the process for qualified professionals from non-EU countries, including South Africa, under the Skilled Immigration Act. The SAGCC will support you with the visa application process, but the following needs to be taken in consideration:
1. Training Placement
You must have a concrete apprenticeship position with a company or a vocational school in Germany
2. Language Proficiency
You must demonstrate German language skills at a minimum of B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
3. School-leaving Certificate
You must provide evidence of a school-leaving certificate that qualifies you for higher education or a recognized qualification from a German school abroad
4. Clean Criminal Record
Some visas require a certificate of good conduct or police clearance from South Africa
You will typically need:
South African citizens must apply at the German Embassy in Pretoria or the Consulate in Cape Town. Processing times can take 4-12 weeks, so applications must be submitted early.
