Water Efficiency for Commercial and Industrial Southern Africa

As water scarcity and wastewater discharge costs continue to rise across Southern Africa, businesses in the industrial and commercial sectors face increasing pressure to optimise water usage. Many regions also experience unreliable water supply, making the need for water efficiency even more urgent.

The Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry is implementing the Water Efficiency for Commercial and Industrial Southern Africa (WECISA) project, which is an initiative of the Export Initiative Environmental Protection (EXI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). The project supports commercial and industrial companies in South Africa and Zambia in assessing their water consumption, developing water management policies and plans, and implementing short-term efficiency measures.

By integrating WECISA’s guidance into their operations, the participating companies demonstrate a commitment to responsible water stewardship and corporate environmental responsibility, honouring the shared values of resource conservation, efficiency, and long-term sustainability that underpin the WECISA project.
