The Competence Centre: Training (CC: Training)

The Competence Centre: Training aims to develop relations and cooperation with various institutions of Higher Learning as well as the Industry to establish sustainable structures to enable dual vocational training in Southern Africa.

Current and Future Dual Vocational Programmes:

  • The CATS Programme- a 2-year vocational training programme which leads to a Dual Certificate of competency in Business Administration, which is valid in Germany (DIHK) and in South Africa (FASSET/ ICB) Certificate at NQF Level 5. 
  • Implementation of a 3.4 to 4-year Mechatronics Dual Vocational Programme which leads to a Dual Certificate of a Mechatronics Technician, which is valid in Germany (DIHK) and in South Africa through a Trade Test Red Seal Certificate at NQF Level 5. 
  • Over the next 3 years, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, a Skills Expert team will develop and expand dual vocational training programmes.

These programmes will apply to occupational fields such as Logistics Management, Hospitality/ Hotel Management.

The main role of the Competence Centre includes the following:

  • Information and relevant services to the industry’s network on vocational educational programmes
  • Promote cooperation and communication between the industry and local educational institutions, quality authorities as well as Sectors of Education and Training
  • Provide a platform for networking and information exchange on dual vocational programmes
  • Support the industry and affiliated networks in developing vocational education training programmes to create employment and skills development opportunities for long term employment.
