Over the next two days, the delegation fully engaged with FAME Week Africa. FAME Week Africa brings together interconnected events across major creative sectors including film, television, animation, music, fashion, and entertainment technology.
Therefore, as part of MIP Africa, delegates participated in B2B meetings with key players in film, television, digital content distribution, and co-production across Sub-Saharan Africa. They also attended panel discussions, masterclasses, and workshops, led by industry experts, offering insights into global market trends and innovative creative strategies. Notably, Aldor Nini, CEO of Acromax Media GmbH, participated as a panelist in “Show Me the Money – Making Sense (and Cents) of the Music Industry Money Map”, sharing insights on how artists and creators can monetise their content across different platforms.
The delegation’s final day in Cape Town included the Netflix Producers Breakfast, where the team shared their vision and plans for African content and invited collaboration with partners. This session provided high-level networking opportunities with directors, actors, producers, and other stakeholders.
The delegates then visited Eyeforce, a leading production company, where they explored its award-winning portfolio of commercials and documentaries for global brands such as Corona, Adidas, and New Balance.
Next, the group toured Media24 TV Studios, experiencing their facilities for reality shows, lifestyle programming, podcasts, and more, produced for channels including kykNET and Showmax. Highlights included a walkthrough of their newly installed LED screen, showcasing cutting-edge studio technology. The delegation also visited Filmscape, South Africa’s first and only LED stage for virtual production and mixed reality, witnessing a live automotive commercial shoot and a full MasterChef studio setup with functional kitchen layouts, illustrating South Africa’s advanced production capabilities.
With the support of the Gauteng Film Commission, GGDA, IDC, and NFVF, the delegation participated in the South Africa-Germany Roundtable Discussion and Conference.
Alongside featured keynote speakers, the featured panelists discussed the distribution and market access for South African content globally. Discussions emphasised South Africa’s immense creative talent, the potential of its industries, and the critical role of collaboration, innovation, and policy support in unlocking international opportunities. The German delegates also showcased their products and services to local stakeholders.
On the final day, the delegation visited Chocolate Tribe, a VFX and animation studio, exploring its facilities and international portfolio. The delegates witnessed their commitment to nurturing young talent, meeting University of Johannesburg students involved in the studio’s programs and gaining access to their premier event, AVIJOZI. Chocolate Tribe’s collaborations include Disney, Netflix, and BBC One, reflecting their global reach.
The visit concluded with eMedia Holdings, a leading South African media company operating channels such as e.tv, YFM, eVOD, and eNCA.
