Request for Quotation for water meters and accessories

As part of the Water Efficiency for Commercial and Industrial Southern Africa (WECISA) project, we are supporting participating companies in reducing water losses and improving water management. One of the core interventions will be the installation of high-quality, accurate water meters across various sites.

We would like to offer a smart water metering solution, ideally for real time monitoring and we foresee the following situations:

1. Currently no meter installed, new installation required. New installation can either be a mechanical meter with data logger/transmitter or a smart meter with built in data collection and transmission function. Our choice of product will be dependent on budget availability.
2. Mechanical meters already installed, need data logger/transmitter to transfer data to data management platform.

We are inviting quotations for the supply of the following water meters and accessories (data logger, data concentrator, data management platform), to allow us to compare pricing, availability, and lead times across suppliers. Please provide your quotation (incl. VAT) for all listed sizes and types (even if you need to indicate “not available” for certain sizes) and include:

• Unit price per meter size
• Lead time for each item (in stock / on order with estimated delivery date)
• Brand and country of origin for the core technology (German/Italian/Chinese etc.). Since the project funding comes from the German Ministry of Environment, German brands are of particular interest.
• Any applicable warranty information
• Shipping/delivery costs, if applicable

Meter Specifications:

• Standard: SANS 1529-1 (mechanical meters) and/or SANS 1529-9 (electronic meters)
• Measurement: mechanical, electronic or both
• Meter Sizes: DN40, DN50, DN65, DN80, DN100, DN150
• Flanged Drilling: SABS 1123 1000/3 (or similar)
• Flow Rate Range: 0–20 kL/hour (up to DN50), 0–50 kL/hour (larger diameters) according to relevant SANS Standard
• Ingress Protection: IP68 (dust and water)
• Working Temperature: <50°C
• Display for mechanical meters with range 0–999,999 kL
• Communication Output for mechanical meters: Pulse Output (reed switch ready) or 4–20 mA
   

Data transmission from manual meters and data management platform (please provide as separate line items):

• Data loggers: Please specify if continuous monitoring is possible, or if not at which frequency the data is transmitted to the data concentrator/data management platform. Please specify if your data logger can communicate with any data concentrator/management platform or if there are any limitations.
• Data concentrator: Please specify what information your concentrator can collect and if it can communicate with any data management platform or if it is specific to your own technology.
• Base station for boosting signal
• Data management platform: Please provide a quotation (per month, per year or other measure) and information on what can be monitored (including outputs) using your platform.
