Renewable Energy – Decentralised Power Supply in Namibia
We had the pleasure, together with the Renewables Academy (RENAC AG), of organising a conference on decentralised power supply in Namibia. The conference was part of an Energy Solutions Initiative by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The purpose of the conference was to facilitate a conversation around decentralised renewable energy. Over 100 stakeholders — from the private sector, business associations and public institutions — took part in the discussions and used the opportunity to ask difficult questions. The conference was well-rounded in that it also included insightful analysis by experts from Namibia and Germany such as the Namibia Energy Institute, Renewable Energy Association of Namibia, and the Renewables Academy. Central to the event was the business delegation from Germany. Seven companies presented their products and services in Solar, Photovoltaic, inverter and battery storage tech. Following the conference our delegates had more than 60 B2B-meetings with various local companies. In almost every meeting viable opportunities for renewable energy solutions were identified. Most solutions focused on Peak Shaving and Arbitrage — energy efficiency methods aimed at lowering energy costs during high tariff periods. Given the anticipated electricity price increases in Namibia and the region, the financial viability of RE and energy efficiency technologies can only be expected to increase.
On behalf of the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and the entire team, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated in the conference and organisation of the delegation. We would especially like to thank the Namibian businesses for their interest in B2B meetings with our delegates. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about implementing RE and/or energy efficiency technologies in Namibia or the SADC region. >>>>>>.
