Renewable Energy – Decentralised Power Supply in Botswana
We had the pleasure of organising a conference on decentralised power supply in Botswana. The conference was part of an Energy Solutions Initiative by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Over 100 stakeholders — from the private sector, business associations and public institutions — took part in the discussions. Our keynote speaker at the event was His Excellency Cornelius K. Dekop, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security. The conference was well-rounded in that it also included insightful analyses on Botswana’s renewable energy status, trends and potential by experts from the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) and the GIZ’s Project Development Programme. Central to the conference was a delegation of German companies who presented their technologies/solutions around inverters, waste heat recovery, storage and hybrid storage systems. By all accounts, the conference was a success.
On behalf of the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated in the conference and organisation of the delegation. We would especially like to thank the local businesses for their interest in B2B meetings with our delegates. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about implementing RE and/or energy efficiency technologies in Botswana or the SADC region.
