Eswatini ONE STOP SHOP INVESTMENT AND TRADE SEMINAR
Johannesburg, 09 May 2019 - The Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SAGCC), and The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority- formerly known as (The Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority) held a successful, “ONE STOP SHOP INVESTMENT AND TRADE SEMINAR on 30 April 2019.
The role of the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority is to attract, promote and facilitate foreign and local investment and trade in Eswatini. Together with the SAGCC the Authority organised this business seminar to advise businesses of the investment and trade opportunities and benefits available in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The Eswatini governmental delegation included, Mr. Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, Ambassador of Eswatini in E.U and Ambassador Esmeralda Hernandez Aragones (Head of the EU Delegation). Ambassador Mngomezulu, stressed the Economic Partnership Agreement that the Kingdom signed with the European Union in June 2016 which is meant to ensure that there exists deeper regional economic integration in terms of market access, trade in services and Investment for all contracting parties.
Mr. Manqoba Khumalo, the Honourable Minister For Commerce Industry & Trade, was the keynote speaker and highlighted the country’s readiness to do business and gave an overview of the various global companies that have conduced business in the Kingdom for decades.
The business delegation included CEO of Business Eswatini, Mr. Nathi E Dlamini, Mr. Martin Masilela manager of Investment Promotion who gave an overview of the Authority and Mr. Michael Toepfer, MD of who stressed the ease of doing business in the Kingdom from a Private Sector perspective. Eswatini is one of the smallest countries in Southern Africa with a population of less than 1,2 million but has a GDP of $USD4.4 billion. The government is on an aggressive drive to promote investment and trade in kingdom. The German delegation included, Ms. Sabine Dall'Omo the President of the Chamber and CEO of Siemens Southern & East Africa, Deputy Ambassador Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, Minister Counsellor (Economic Affairs) – Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
