About the event:

The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) has issued a directive that from 1 July 2018, all companies are required to submit their Annual Financial Statements (AFS) in Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format. This directive is driven by South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry and is intended to automate the process of data collection for the CIPC. Furthermore, filing in XBRL will also serve to ease the process of analysing companies’ AFS. The initiative is directed at using a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) data solution that will ease the administrative burden of regulatory compliance for business.

Lofty Brainchild (Pty) Ltd (“Lofty Brainchild”), a new member of the SA-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with a representative from the regulator being the CIPC, will facilitate the discussion on the new regulations as well as provide guidance on what companies will be required to do to ensure compliance.

This will include answering the following:

  • Which companies are affected;
  • The accounting reporting periods that XBRL reporting will apply to;
  • Enable companies to determine when their first AFS submission via XBRL will be due; and
  • What solutions Lofty Brainchild can provide to assist companies with meeting their filing requirements.

Lofty Brainchild will then introduce attendees to its partnership with Amana Consulting GMBH (“Amana Consulting”), headquartered in Essen, Germany. Amana Consulting has assisted many companies with similar compliance requirements on the New York Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Dax in Germany. Amana Consulting is one of the leading XBRL and disclosure management solutions providers in Europe.

Guests will engage on the new regulation and will leave with insights on the practical steps that will ensure their businesses are able to timeously meet the new compliance requirements. Furthermore, they will also get a better understanding of what disclosure management solutions are available that will be of benefit to their company.

For further details and to confirm your attendance, please contact Ms Heidel Bekker, hbekker(at), Tel. 011-486 2775.

You are welcome to circulate the invitation in your organization, particularly to colleagues, who are involved in finalising the completion of AFS and compliance personnel.
