Cape Town, Tuesday, 23rd May 2017

The 17th annual Ball of HOPE was held on Saturday, 13th May 2017 at the Westin Hotel in Cape Town and attended by over 360 guests from South Africa and abroad.
Hosted by the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and HOPE Cape Town, the Ball of HOPE brings together people from different backgrounds and sectors, yet all with a common purpose to create a culture of philanthropy and social investment.

As a leading local fundraiser, the Ball of HOPE benefits community health programmes mainly in the Tygerberg District of the Western Cape. Minister of Health, The Honourable Nomafrench Mbombo delivered the keynote address and emphasised the value of HOPE Cape Town and the significance of the good work and support the organisation brings to the public health system. The Province does not have the capacity to meet the huge healthcare needs in hospitals, clinics and communities therefore the role of non-profit organisations such as HOPE Cape Town is essential to deliver services to the people who depend on public health facilities.

Western Cape Representative of the SA-German Chamber of Commerce, Mrs Anja Tambusso-Ferraz, thanked the donors and event sponsors for their dedication to the successful event and committed the proceeds to the HOPE Cape Town project at Tygerberg Children’s Hospital, one of the major HIV outreach programmes in the Western Cape.

Co-founder and Chairperson of the HOPE Cape Town Trust, the Reverend Father Stefan Hippler welcomed the guests and said the support HOPE Cape Town receives has a direct impact on the communities we serve, providing the necessary funds to help advance our research, invest in our teams, and provide increased and improved services, all while ensuring we deliver the best healthcare experience for our patients and their families.
