20.06.18 AHK Süd-Afrika - News-Hauptkategorie, Global AHK News

GlobalConnect is the place to be to make your mark among entrepreneurs, politicians, business partners and international market experts. This forum for the export industry offer one-of-a-kind platforms for discussions concerning the latest trends in international markets, from digitalisation to regional crises and geopolitical challenges. The forums and conferences at this event put entrepreneurs in the limelight – excellent opportunities to grow your network of business contacts as well as keep up with current trends.

The day before the official start of the GlobalConnect in Stuttgart, the IHK Region Stuttgart invited some of the visitors for their traditional get-together. Representatives from AHKs, BAFA and BMWi joined the IHK for a visit to the local Fraunhofer Institute, where they were introduced to the topic of digitalisation and Work 4.0, followed by a tour of the future work lab. In the evening, the IHK hosted a networking function at their own vineyard.

Award Ceremony

A highlight of GlobalConnect 2018 was the presentation of the GlobalConnect Award, which honours entrepreneurial achievements in foreign business. Also known as “The Award of the Economy for the Economy”, this award was presented for the sixth time at GlobalConnect 2018. Dr Nicol Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing for Baden-Württemberg, had the honour of presenting the GlobalConnect Award for the categories of “Newcomer”, “Hidden Champion” and “Global Player”.

Panel discussion

The GlobalConnect programme for Thursday (21.06.18) consisted of panel discussions and information sessions on subjects such as

·         “Between marketing and industrial espionage - Making business processes secure worldwide”

·         “Competitiveness and disruptive innovations – Are there ways to new digital business models for SMEs?” and

·         “European Funding” “Competitiveness and disruptive innovations – Are there ways to new digital business models for SMEs?”

Since the SADC region is becoming such a hot topic for European businesses, it should come as no surprise that Germany’s biggest platform for export and internationalisation featured a panel discussion, entitled, “Southern Africa – What are the factors for success?” – moderated by Martin Karlhöfer of Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) and the speakers were Dr Nadir Imani, Executive Vice President Global Education for Festo Didactic SE, and Lea Heidemann, the Southern Africa-German Chamber’s very own regional coordinator.
