Back-To-Work "Breakfast” in Lusaka

The American, British and German Chambers of Commerce were pleased to welcome there business network for their second annual “Back-to-Work” Breakfast. Within the framework of the "Back to Work 2018 Networking Breakfast", the organising Chambers of Commerce offered a Macroeconomic Outlook for 2018. Speakers and guests of honour at this event included the likes of Gregory Smith, a Senior Economist at World Bank, who gave an introductory presentation that outlined the most important features Zambia´s current fiscal and debt situation. After Mr Smith’s speech, a panel discussion began around the topic of “Private Sector Perspective on Zambia's Business Climate”. The speakers on this panel included - Mr. Luxminarayanan Subramaniam, the Group General Manager for Trade Kings Group; Dr. Akintayo Adisa, Managing Director & Business Development Manager Southern Africa for BASF; Mr. Sipho Phiri, Executive Chairman for Western Power; and Mr. Mafipe Chunga, Senior Manager for KPMG Zambia, who acted as moderator for the discussion panel. Special emphasis was given to the issues of local production of goods. In the lively discussion, business representatives from the audience raised various issues including the increasing cost of doing business in Zambia. The Back-To-Work Breakfast was the first of many events the Zambian office has planned for 2018. Upcoming Events include:

  • 16th – 20th March: German Business Delegation “Water Management in Zambia” 
  • 22nd March: “Digital Solutions for Zambia” – Presentation in Berlin
